South Africa to Reduce Petrol and Diesel Prices in November 2026

by admin477351

Motorists in South Africa are likely to benefit from a reduction in fuel prices this November, as petrol and diesel costs are expected to drop significantly following government-initiated levy cuts. Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana has announced these temporary reductions as part of a R10 billion relief package designed to alleviate financial pressure on consumers.

Starting November, the general fuel levy will see a decrease of R1.50 per litre for petrol and R3 per litre for diesel. According to the Central Energy Fund’s data from October 27, all four main fuel grades in South Africa are anticipated to reflect this change. Indicative projections for inland areas suggest that petrol 93 could decrease by 23 cents per litre and petrol 95 by 38 cents per litre. Diesel 0.05% is expected to drop by R1.57 per litre, while diesel 0.005% could see a reduction of R1.65 per litre.

These figures, however, are provisional and subject to adjustment before the final pricing is confirmed. The fluctuations in international oil prices and the rand-to-dollar exchange rate are crucial factors that could influence the final fuel costs. Brent crude oil has risen to around $115 per barrel due to tensions in the Middle East, while the rand has been trading between R16.50 and R16.65 against the US dollar. Increases in oil prices or a weakening rand could potentially diminish the expected savings or even lead to higher fuel prices.

The revised fuel prices are set to be implemented at midnight on November 3, pending the final monthly adjustments. Motorists are advised to keep an eye on these developments as the situation could evolve with changing global and local economic conditions.
