China has expressed its readiness to enhance security cooperation with African countries, aiming to bolster stable economic development, according to Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun. This announcement came during the 4th China-Africa Peace and Security Forum held in Beijing on Thursday.
Minister Dong highlighted the longstanding defense ties between China and Africa, which are founded on mutual support and shared security interests. He emphasized that the ongoing China-Africa security cooperation plays a crucial role in fostering regional peace and contributing to global stability. Dong called for continued collaboration grounded in principles of equality and mutual benefit.
As part of the effort to deepen ties, the Chinese military is prepared to strengthen strategic coordination with African nations, Dong stated. This includes expanding defense exchanges and enhancing maritime security cooperation. Furthermore, he advocated for increased cooperation in emerging security and defense fields, aiming to achieve more tangible outcomes from existing partnerships.
The forum in Beijing gathered military representatives and diplomats from the African Union along with delegates from 41 African countries. The participants engaged in discussions focused on security cooperation and the common challenges faced by both China and African nations.
