President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to deliver a speech on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the official launch of the Kruger National Park’s Centenary Commemoration. The event will take place at Skukuza Rest Camp in Mpumalanga, marking a century since the park was formally established in 1926, a pivotal moment in South Africa’s conservation history.

Under the theme “Our Heritage, Our Future,” the centenary celebrations will pay tribute to 100 years of conservation leadership, biodiversity protection, scientific advancement, and tourism development. This milestone underscores South Africa’s dedication to environmental sustainability, inclusivity, and the preservation of shared heritage.

The centenary offers an opportunity to honor the countless rangers, scientists, communities, and conservationists whose efforts have been instrumental in safeguarding one of the world’s most esteemed protected areas. It also highlights the importance of collaborative partnerships in conservation, tourism, and environmental sustainability, particularly in light of the park’s recent recovery from flooding that impacted infrastructure and tourism operations.

Kruger National Park remains a cornerstone of South Africa’s conservation and tourism sectors, playing a vital role in biodiversity conservation, research, economic growth, and job creation. The commemoration will emphasize the park’s resilience and its ongoing contributions to the nation’s environmental and economic landscape.

President Ramaphosa’s address will take place at 6:00 PM at the Skukuza Rest Camp. For media inquiries, contact Vincent Magwenya, Spokesperson to the President, via email at [email protected].
