In a new wave of hostilities, Russia unleashed missile and drone attacks on Kyiv on Sunday, resulting in at least one death and injuring 13 individuals, as reported by Ukrainian officials. This assault followed a Ukrainian offensive on Russian logistics centers and warehouses. Residents in the Ukrainian capital were jolted by explosions shortly after air-raid alarms signaled the approach of ballistic missiles, impacting six districts within Kyiv.
The Solomianskyi district experienced damage to an apartment building, while fires ignited at a supermarket and a residential area in the Sviatoshynskyi district. Additionally, strikes targeted a shopping and entertainment center in the Dniprovskyi district, an apartment in the Shevchenkivskyi district, and a non-residential facility. Meanwhile, in the central Dnipropetrovsk region, a separate Russian drone attack claimed another life. On the Russian side, a Ukrainian strike led to one fatality in the Kursk region.
This escalation comes on the heels of Ukrainian drone assaults on Russian logistics hubs in the Moscow and Tambov regions. Ukrainian authorities stated that these sites were integral to supplying components essential for the production of drones and navigation systems. In recent months, Ukraine has ramped up its long-range offensives against Russian territory, specifically targeting infrastructure and energy installations in retaliation for Russia’s repeated bombardments since the onset of the conflict in 2022.
Amid these military developments, Ukraine is contending with domestic political unrest following a recent government reshuffle. Thousands of citizens have gathered in several cities for a third day of protests against the dismissal of Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov. His removal has fueled speculation about potential broader changes within Ukraine’s military leadership.
